This is the second of several auctions we will be conducting for the Dr. John and Jeanne Spangler Estate. This auction includes vintage advertising, antiques, items with historical significance, and hundreds of bottles and jars. Auction closes on March 15 @ 7 PM.

To settle the estate of the late Dr. John and Jeanne Spangler we will be selling at online auction the personal property at 121 Garbers Church Rd in Harrisonburg VA. This is the second of several auctions we will be conducting for the Spangler Estate.

Dr. and Mrs Spangler were well known in the Harrisonburg area and spent a lifetime collecting all sorts of interesting things. Dr. Spangler was most passionate about collecting glass bottles. As a veterinarian he discovered old medicine bottles on the farms he was working at, and that started his interest in old bottles. The Spangler's could also be found frequenting local auction houses to pick up unique and interesting items.

Items Of Interest:

This auction includes store display cases, many antiques, vintage advertising, books, items of historical significance, and hundreds of bottles.  We have over 100 milk bottles, over 100 old fruit and canning jars, soda bottles, bitters bottles, ink bottles, chemical bottles and much more.

Of special interest will be the milk bottle collection which includes over 80 bottles and caps from local dairies such as Dwight Brunk, E.W. Messeley, J Clawd Miller, J.G. Meyer,  D.C. Craun, Homestead Farms, Eastview Dairy, J.D. Kiser, R.J. Layman, Paul Burkholder, Dan J Blosser, Elmbrook Dairy, W.C. Wampler, Lewis D. Miller, K.M. Shank, Byard Lahman, Farmers & Merchants Dairy, Shenandoah's Pride, Carl Hartman, and many more including some hard to find bottles from other parts of VA.

Also of local interest will be an 8th edition Harmonia Sacra printed in 1857, book from John Wayland, correspondence from Rockingham, Augusta, and Page Counties in early 1800's, plus many other items of local advertising and interest.  This includes soda bottles from local bottling companies in Weyers Cave, Harrisonburg, Elkton, Staunton, Clifton Forge, Roanoke, and Winchester.

Preview and Pickup Information:

This is an online only auction which will begin to close on March 15 at 7:00 PM at the rate of 3 lots per minute with a 1 minute auto extend. That means if a bid is placed within the last minute for any lot the time for that lot will be extended for one more minute.

Preview for this auction will be Tuesday March 15 from 2-5 PM at 121 Garber's Church Rd, Harrisonburg VA. Pickup is at the same location on Wednesday March 16 from 9 AM to 5 PM. Shipping is available at the buyers expense for smaller items in this auction. Please bring help to assist you in loading your larger purchases.

Terms of the Sale:

Buyers Premium and Sales Tax: The Buyer's Premium of 10% will be added to each successful bid. Virginia Sales Tax of 5.3% will be charged on all items unless the buyer provides a valid sales tax exemption form. Sales tax exemption must be claimed and form presented before payment is made.

Merchandise: All Items Are Sold AS IS, WHERE IS, WITHOUT GUARANTEE. We urge you to examine all items carefully and satisfy yourself as to the condition and bid accordingly. We will not be accepting returns or providing refunds.

Payment: Cash, Credit Card (3% Fee Applies), Wire Transfer, and Good Check are approved methods of payment. This online only auction will require bidders to enter a valid credit card in order to register to bid. When registering to bid, the credit card will be checked for available credit of $100 but the card will not be charged. At the end of the auction all successful bidders will receive an invoice via email and payment can be made online. If payment arrangements are not made by the end of the pickup period then the credit card used for authorization purposes at the time of registration will be charged. All payments whether cash, check, or card must be made before any items are removed from the property.

Bidding: You must be registered to place a bid on an item. By placing a bid, you agree to all the terms and conditions that apply to this auction. All bids are final. We cannot retract or remove a bid. We respect your privacy and that of the other bidders. We will not release your information to anyone without your permission. This is an online only auction. The bidding will begin to close on March 15 at 7:00 PM and close at the rate of three lots per minute with a one minute auto extend. This means that if a bid is placed within one minute of the end of the auction the auction for that item will auto extend for an additional minute until no more bids are placed within the last minute.

Shipping: Shipping Will Be Available At Buyers Expense For Smaller Items In This Auction. Please be aware that large and heavy items can be very expensive to ship. We process all our shipping through Shipping Saint. You will receive a separate invoice from them for the shipping.

Preview And Pickup: All of the items will be available to preview at the auction location in Harrisonburg VA on Tuesday March 15 from 2-5 PM. Please satisfy yourself as to the condition of each item before placing your bids. Pickup time is  Wednesday March 16 from 9 AM to 5 PM.
